Inspired by one of my favorite silhouettes — the ROA Hiking Cingino — I set out to reverse-engineer and reimagine it through my design lens. Using rich, textured materials and a bespoke approach, I created a handcrafted version that reflects both the technical identity of the original and my design perspective.
This was my first journey through the full bespoke footwear process. Working in the lab at the University of Oregon’s Sports Product Management Master’s Program, I built my pattern from scratch and hand-stitched the prototype. Every cut, every seam, every material choice was intentional, an exploration of what happens when industrial design is slowed down and made personal.
This project was more than a one-off build. It was a step toward mastering the full spectrum of product creation from concept to craft, from inspiration to execution.
